Tennessee took second in the 400 free relay, as the lineup of Caribe, Crooks, Björn Kammann and Aleksey Tarasenko posted a time of 2:54.43. Crooks posted an impressive 42.14 split in the race.
"We had a strong second half of the meet," associate head coach Rich Murphy said. "We were two points behind in the second half of the meet which reflected our competitiveness and fight. The first half reflected our ongoing opportunities for competitive skill under pressure. On a whole, the men competed as a unit and strengthened its sense of a team mission. I'm excited to see where that growing team identity leads us."
In diving, Bryden Hattie won the 3-meter behind a 396.90 score. Matthew Wade took second in the event with a 389.33 mark. Wade led the way on the 1-meter for the men, placing third behind a 333.37 mark.
Tanesha Lucoe was the top finisher on the 3-meter, posting a 288.23 to take third. Grace Cable placed fourth with a 282.75 score and was the top finisher on the 1-meter with a 287.70 mark.
On the women's side, Mona McSharry swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast behind a 1:00.88 time and the 200 breast with a 2:15.07 mark. She also took third in the 50 free (23.38).
Josephine Fuller swept the backstroke races, posting a season-best mark of 1:55.13 in the 200 back and winning the 100 back with a 53.84 time. Her 200 back mark ranks seventh in the nation this season. She finished the day with a second-place finish in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:01.69.
Brooklyn Douthwright (1:48.47) and Julia Burroughs (1:49.33) took third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 free. Douthwright was the top finisher for UT in the 100 free with a 50.85 mark.
In a race that included three of the top seven swimmers nationally, Kristen Stege finished third in the 1000 free, touching the wall in 9:53.13.
In the relays, the Lady Vols took second in the 200 medley relay (1:39.37) as well as the 400 free relay (3:25.28).
"We competed against a very strong Florida women's squad," associate head coach Ashley Jahn said. "Our Lady Vol swimming and diving team fell short of our competitive standard today. On the swimming side, we found ourselves behind early in the meet, and we let that take us away from our strengths. I'm proud of the way our leaders have evaluated the competition and their vision for the rest of the season."
Up next, UT returns home to host the Tennessee Invitational on Nov. 17-19 at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The meet will feature several of the nation's top programs.
