KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2022 postseason continues for the Tennessee cross country program as the Vols and Lady Vols take on the NCAA South Region Championships Friday morning at the John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, Alabama.
The women's 6K will kick things off at 9:30 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 10K at 10:30 a.m. Live results will be provided by Xpress Timing and are available HERE.
The regional meet features Division I teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi, with the top two men's and women's programs earning automatic berths to the NCAA National Championships next week in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Individual spots at the national meet are also up for grabs for the top-four individual finishers not selected as members of NCAA-qualifying teams.
The men's squad enters the south regional off a second-place finish at the SEC Championships. Dylan Jacobs and Yaseen Abdalla helped lead the Vols to their best placement at the league meet since 1999 with second and third-place overall finishes.
Both runners garnered First Team All-SEC honors, while Karl Thiessen picked up second team honors with his 14th-place finish. Thiessen qualified for the national meet last season as an individual.
Kayla Gholar and Andie-Marie Jones led the women's squad at the conference meet with 13th and 29th-place finishes. Gholar's 13th-place finish earned her Second Team All-SEC accolades, with Jones capturing All-Freshman Team recognition.
