September 25, 2021 | Women's Tennis
CARY, N.C. – With another day in the books at the College Ranked Spotlight +1 at the Cary Tennis Park in the books, the Tennessee women's tennis team picked up four wins, two coming from Tenika McGiffin, Saturday.
McGiffin, on a three-match win streak, put together two fantastic matches. She took down USC freshman Snow Han, 7-6, 6-4. Her next pairing came with vengeance as she battled Luna Dormet of Ohio State who had just taken down Elza Tomase. McGiffin put together one of the top matches in singles play this fall, dominating the match 6-0, 6-1.
McGiffin is in the finals of her draw and will battle for the championship tomorrow morning vs. Ratliff(OSU) or Richardson(Miami).
Eleonora Molinaro started her morning locked in a battle with Marie Mattel of UCF. She fought to a 6-3, 3-6, (10-7) win.
Rebeka Mertena continues to fight through a tough draw. After falling to #48 Abigail Rencheli, she made quick work of Emma Jackson from Duke, 6-2, 6-3.
The Lady Vols have one more day of action at NC State before returning to Rocky Top. Tomorrow's action will feature both singles and doubles play.
