WER Picks Lady Vols Second in SEC

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – World Exposure Report announced its preseason picks for Southeastern Conference women's basketball, and the University of Tennessee is predicted to finish second in the league standings, and two Lady Vols are included in the organization's preseason awards.
UT, which has carded third-place SEC finishes the past two seasons, picked up 68 poll points and is projected to grab second behind favorite South Carolina (81). Texas A&M (67), Kentucky (66), Mississippi State (56), LSU (55) and Ole Miss (42) round out the top half of the league. Arkansas (36), Georgia (35), Vanderbilt (32), Alabama (22), Auburn (19), Florida (12) and Missouri (7) complete the bottom half.
Senior guard/forward Rae Burrell is a member of the WER All-SEC Preseason First Team, while junior guard Jordan Horston is listed on the second team. Burrell made the All-SEC Second Team a year ago after averaging 16.8 ppg. and 4.6 rpg. Horston, meanwhile, put up 8.6 ppg., 4.2 rpg. and 3.9 apg. in 2020-21 in her second season on Rocky Top.
Kentucky's Rhyne Howard was voted as the World Exposure Report SEC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year. She and Burrell are joined on the WER All-SEC Preseason First Team by Aliyah Boston, South Carolina; Moon Ursin, LSU; Zia Cooke, South Carolina; Rickea Jackson, Mississippi State; Anastasia Hayes, Mississippi State; and Shakira Austin, Ole Miss.
Horston joins Lavender Briggs, Florida; Jenna Staiti, Georgia; LaShondra Monk, Ole Miss; Jessika Carter, Mississippi State; Aijha Blackwell, Missouri; Destanni Henderson, South Carolina; and Khayla Pointer, LSU on the second unit.
