BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee freshman midfielder Jordan Fusco has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Fusco scored two goals over the weekend, the first in UT's 6-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday and the second in a 2-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Sunday.Â
The Olmsted, Ohio, native notched her first goal as a Volunteer 10 minutes into the second half of the FGCU game, scoring on a hustle play after a save was bobbled by the Eagles' keeper at the six-yard box.
On Sunday, she scored what would be the game-winner against Miami, driving a volley into the back of the net from eight yards out off a cross by Maria Nelson 32 minutes into the game.
In total, she saw 91 minutes of action between the two contests, getting off seven shots. Fusco is the first Vol to receive a weekly conference honor this season.
Tennessee continues non-conference action this week, traveling to Tennessee Tech on Thursday for the first road match of the season. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET, and it will be streamed on ESPN+.
