Summer Ball Update #2: Several Vols Continue Production With Playoffs on Horizon

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee baseball's 14 players on the summer circuit have continued to generate production on their respective summer-league rosters as the playoffs near.
While Drew Gilbert and Blade Tidwell have already wrapped up play this summer with the USA Collegiate National Team, most summer leagues are nearing the playoffs. Most leagues' playoffs will begin in the next week.

USA Collegiate National Team
OF Drew Gilbert – USA Collegiate National Team
Season Stats: 11 GP, .294 AVG, 4 R, 10 H, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 7 K, .382 SLG, .314 OBP
Along with a batting average of .294 and a slugging percentage of .382 in 11 appearances for the USA Collegiate National Team this summer, Gilbert recorded four runs on 10 hits and RBIs for the Stripes this season.
RHP Blade Tidwell – USA Collegiate National Team
Season Stats: 3 App, 1-1, 0 SV, 7.71 ERA, 7.0 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 9 K, 1.43 WHIP
In three appearances on the mound thus far for the USA Collegiate National Team, Tidwell struck out nine batters in 7.0 innings pitched this summer.
Cape Cod League
OF Jordan Beck – Harwich Mariners
Season Stats: 23 GP, .243 AVG, 2 HR, 4 2B, 1 3B, 9 R, 18 H, 10 RBI, 13 BB, .405 SLG, .364 OBP
Beck has recorded a hit in five of his past seven games, including two games of multiple hits and two home runs during that stretch.
California Collegiate League
OF Kyle Booker – Orange County Riptide
Season Stats: 12 GP, .340 AVG, 10 R, 18 H, 4 2B, 4 RBI, 5 BB, 16 K, .415 SLG, .400 OBP
With 12 total appearances for the Orange County Riptide this summer, Booker has accumulated 18 hits, four RBIs and a batting average of .340. Booker has seven games of multiple hits.
RHP Christian Delashmit – Santa Barbara Foresters
Season Stats: 6 App, 2-1, 0 SV, 2.84 ERA, 25.1 IP, 10 R, 8 ER, 17 H, 16 BB, 31 K, 1.30 WHIP
Delashmit has earned wins in two of his last four appearances, while striking out a total of 25 batters during those four appearances.
C Charlie Taylor – Orange County Riptide
Season Stats: 11 GP, .231 AVG, 8 R, 11 H, 7 RBI, 9 BB, 17 K, 3 SB, .256 SLG, .362 OBP
Taylor has appeared in six games for the Orange County Riptide this summer, scoring eight runs on 11 hits in those contests. He has recorded a trio of multi-hit games along with three stolen bases so far this summer.
Coastal Plain League
LHP Kirby Connell – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 1 App, 0-0, 0 SV, 0.00 ERA, 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 1.05 WHIP
Connell struck out one batter in his lone inning pitched so far for the Forest City Owls this summer.
LHP Shawn Scott – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 8 App, 2-2, 0 SV, 10.65 ERA, 25.1 IP, 31 R, 30 ER, 22 H, 30 BB, 31 K, 2.05 WHIP
Scott has struck out 31 batters this summer in 25.1 innings of work. He holds a record of 2-2 with eight appearances for the Owls.
Southern Collegiate Baseball League
RF/1B Jared Dickey – Charlotte Mustangs
Season Stats: 27 GP, .383 AVG, 33 R, 36 H, 2 HR 5 2B, 1 3B, 11 RBI, 16 BB, 7 K, .521 SLG, .496 OBP
Dickey is batting .383 this summer for the Charlotte Mustangs, with 36 hits, two home runs, 33 total runs and 11 RBIs through 27 appearances.
RHP Hollis Fanning – Charlotte Mustangs
Season Stats: 11 App, 6-1, 3 CG, 2 SV, 3.42 ERA, 47.1 IP, 22 R, 18 ER, 37 H, 8 BB, 32 K, 0.95 WHIP
Claiming a team-leading six wins with three complete games and two saves for the Mustangs this summer, Fanning has struck out 32 batters in 47.1 innings of work from the mound.

IF Trey Lipscomb – Johnstown Mill Rats
Season Stats: 19 GP, .375 AVG, 23 R, 30 H, 3 HR, 4 2B, 29 RBI, 8 BB, 5 K, 11 SB, .538 SLG, .424 OBP
Lipscomb has made 19 appearances for the Johnstown Mill Rats this summer, hitting at a .375 clip with 30 hits, 23 runs and 29 RBIs. He has stolen 11 bases and has hit three home runs thus far.
LHP Drew Patterson – Alton River Dragons
Season Stats: 20 App, 2-4, 3 SV, 4.21 ERA, 36.1 IP, 24 R, 17 ER, 44 H, 6 BB, 36 K, 1.38 WHIP
Patterson has made 20 appearances for the Alton River Dragons this summer and has tallied 36.1 innings pitched. He has recorded 36 strikeouts and walked just six batters.
OF Christian Scott – Johnstown Mill Rats
Season Stats: 20 GP, .301 AVG, 24 R, 22 H, 2 HR, 6 2B, 11 RBI, 17 BB, 24 K, 14 SB, .521 SLG, .457 OBP
Scott is batting .301 this summer with 20 games under his belt. He has scored 24 runs with 11 hits, 11 RBIs and two home runs.
Sunbelt Baseball League
LHP Zander Sechrist – Gainesville Braves
Season Stats: 4 App, 1-1, 0 SV, 3.00 ERA, 18.0 IP, 7 R, 6 ER, 11 H, 9 BB, 19 K, 1.11 WHIP
Sechrist has logged 19 strikeouts this summer for the Gainesville Braves, starting in each of his four appearances. He has pitched 18.0 innings thus far and holds an ERA of 3.00.
