USMC/AVCA Honor Tennessee Volleyball for Academic Excellence

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Monday that the Tennessee volleyball program has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. A total of 1,275 collegiate and high school teams earned the award this season.

In addition to the USMC/AVCA academic recognition, the Lady Vols placed 13 student-athletes on the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and saw freshman JaKya Moore land on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2020-21.

Three Lady Vols - Ava Bell, Lily Felts and Giana Pellizzon - all maintained 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester.

This is just the latest national academic award for UT as Bell earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in June.
