Listen: "The Slice" Podcast Featuring Jacob Warren
May 03, 2021 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior tight end and Knoxville native Jacob Warren joins this week's episode of "The Slice," Tennessee football's official podcast.
"The Slice" is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (search The Slice). VFL Films' Kasey Funderburg conducts the in-depth interview, while VFL's Isaac Fowler produces the episode.
Warren, who starred at Farragut High School, enjoyed an outstanding spring in his third year with the program. His father, James, lettered for the Volunteers as an offensive lineman from 1992-93. Jacob discussed his emergence as a team leader and the energy the new coaching staff has brought daily.
"There's so much mutual respect and mutual communication that goes on," Warren said. "It's a great situation right now. We are all headed in the right direction, especially me personally just growing as a player and growing as a man. Becoming a better leader for my teammates has been a big thing for me this offseason and this spring. It's learning how to lead guys and be vocal with people when I need to."
Warren talked about playing for new head coach Josh Heupel, who has created a fun and accountable culture since arriving in Knoxville.
"When he first got here, he even said it that all these things are just words right now," Warren said. "He said all of these things that are going to happen, we were going to do. He's delivered on everything he said he was going to do."
