Vols Remain in Second Entering Final Round at NCAA Regionals

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The No. 3 seed Tennessee men's golf team moved into sole possession of second place at the NCAA Noblesville Regional Tuesday and enters the tournament's final round in good position to advance out of regional play.
The Vols shot 5-under for the day on Tuesday and have a two-round total of 8-under heading into Wednesday's third and final round. No. 1 seed Texas maintained the overall lead for the second straight day and has a two-round team score of 15-under. Tennessee holds a one stroke lead over third-place North Carolina, the regional's No. 2 seed.
The top five teams following Wednesday's final round in Noblesville will advance to the NCAA Championships, to be played from May 28 to June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Through two rounds, Tennessee sits 14 strokes ahead of the sixth place team.
"Another good solid round for us today," head coach Brennan Webb said. "We have done a great job this week following our game plan and we will continue to do that tomorrow."
Tennessee's top round two performer was Bryce Lewis, who carded a round of par or better for the second straight day with a 3-under performance. After shooting even par during round one, Lewis has a two-round total of 3-under and is tied for seventh place—just three strokes out of the individual lead.
Lewis had a strong finish to Tuesday's round, carding four birdies in the final seven holes.
Hunter Wolcott maintained a spot in the top 10 for the second straight day, shooting even par during round two. Tied for 10th place entering the regional's final round, Wolcott is 2-under overall and searching for his ninth career top-10 finish.
With his even par round, Wolcott pushed his total career rounds of par or better to 53—a mark that ranks fifth in program history.
Tied for 19th place after a 1-under outing on Tuesday, Spencer Cross is at even par overall entering round three. Cross is on pace for his fifth top-20 finish of the spring alone.
Brayden Garrison shot 3-over during round two, but remains just outside the top 25 following Monday's round of 2-under. Garrison is 1-over and tied for 28th place.
Shooting 1-under for the day, Rhys Nevin contributed a counting round for the Vols on Tuesday. Nevin is 2-over and tied for 34th place heading into Wednesday—just two strokes outside of the top 20.
