Listen: "The Slice" Podcast Featuring Trevon Flowers
May 10, 2021 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Senior defensive back and returning starter Trevon Flowers joins this week's episode of "The Slice," Tennessee football's official podcast.
"The Slice" is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (search The Slice). VFL Films' Kasey Funderburg conducts the in-depth interview, while VFL's Isaac Fowler produces the episode.
Flowers, a native of Atlanta, discusses his pathway to college football after growing up predominantly focused on baseball and basketball. The three-sport star out of Tucker High School emerged as a versatile prospect as a senior.
"My heart just told me to take a chance and run with it," Flowers said. "I didn't want to look back on my life and wish I should have tried this out or tried that out. On the baseball field, I played shortstop and had space on the infield to cover ground. Being able to react quickly and have instincts once I went to safety just felt natural."
Flowers is coming off a productive junior season, ranking second on the team in tackles with 62, while starting all 10 games at safety. He's displayed his leadership this spring, along with unit teammates Jaylen McCollough, Alontae Taylor and Theo Jackson.
"We got better, and we became more of a team this spring," Flowers said. "It's about building relationships. We definitely got closer. We learned more about each other in a couple of months than we did in two to three years. Just knowing that, what those guys have been through and where they are trying to get to just makes me go harder not only for me but for them too. It's something special."Â
Season tickets for the 100th year of Neyland Stadium and the start of the Josh Heupel era are on sale now at AllVols.com.  Season tickets start as low as $300, with the Vol Pass and payment plan options offered.
