Whiston Lands in Top 10, Lady Vols Conclude LSU Tiger Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Tennessee women's golf team concluded the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Wednesday, finishing in tenth place.
Sophomore Nicole Whiston wrapped up the regular season by finishing tied for sixth place with a final score of E-par, 216. It marks her fourth career top-10 finish and her first of this season.
The Lady Vols picked up wins over three top-25 teams this week.
"We were much more competitive this week in another incredibly strong field and got wins over a few good teams," head coach Judi Pavon said. "It was a good week for us to get better prepared to play well next week at the SEC Championship. Nicole had a great finish this week against some very strong players and Mikayla got herself a top-20 finish as well."
Whiston made six birdies on Wednesday, matching her second round total. She shot 1-over in round three to secure the second-highest finish of her career.
Mikayla Bardwell led the Lady Vols on Wednesday, with an even par third round score to claim a top-20 finish. She concluded the tournament at 5-over and in a tie for 20th.
Micheala Williams-Luck wrapped up competition in Baton Rouge with a score of +3 (75) in the final round. After three rounds, the graduate student finished tied for 34th place at 8-over, 224.
Freshman Vanessa Gilly rounded out Tennessee's round three scoring lineup, shooting 6-over, 78, on Wednesday to finish the tournament in a tie for 55th place. Gilly birdied hole 12 in each of the tournament's three rounds.
Kayla Holden finished the tournament at +37 and finished in 76th place.
