Rackham Watt Announces Two Additions to Volleyball Roster
April 27, 2021 | Volleyball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee volleyball head coach Eve Rackham Watt has announced Klaudia Pawlik and Nicole Shanahan have joined the Lady Vols.
Both players add significant size to the roster, with Pawlik measuring 6-4 and Shanahan standing at 6-2. Pawlik and Shanahan will arrive on Rocky Top this summer.
Shanahan, who spent the past four seasons at Wisconsin, joins UT as a graduate transfer. The Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, native has been a part of two national semifinal teams with the Badgers as well as reaching the round of 16 and national quarterfinals during her stint in Madison.
"We are so excited to welcome Nicole Shanahan to our program," Rackham Watt said. "Nicole is a player who comes to us with a lot of high level experience and tremendous work ethic. She is a solid blocker and I think will fit in offensively very well. During her time at Wisconsin, she played in a Sweet 16, Elite 8 and two Final 4s. She also traveled with the Big-10 All-Star Team. I am looking forward to her adding that experience to our team and providing depth in the middle blocker position."
Pawlik will be a freshman during the 2021 season and comes to Tennessee from Hansk, Poland. The middle blocker plays club ball for AZS UMCS Lublin. She has also spent time with TPS Lublin.
With UMCS, Pawlik was named player of the week on three occasions. With TPS, she led her team to a pair of first-place finishes in the state junior league in 2019 and 2020.
"Klaudia will be a great addition to our Lady Vol volleyball program," Rackham Watt said. "She is a player who we believe has a world of potential. At 6-4, she has great length, but also lateral speed to be an effective blocker. As an offensive player, she can hit in front and behind the setter, which is something we look for. We have been impressed with her development over the past year and can't wait to have her train in our system."
