April 02, 2021 | Volleyball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee sophomore Morgahn Fingall has been selected as the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, following the Lady Vols' sweep of LSU.
Fingall led the UT attack in both matches of the LSU series, totaling 42 kills over the pair of outings. In the opening match of the series, the Fairfax, Virginia, native scored a career-high 23 kills, notched seven digs and two blocks in the four-set victory.
She followed up that performance with 19 kills, 13 digs and three blocks as the Lady Vols swept the series with a five-set win over the Tigers. With her 13 digs, Fingall earned her second double-double of the season.
For the weekend, the right side hitter averaged 4.67 kills per set, 2.22 digs per set and 5.06 points per set.
"We are so proud of Morgahn and excited that she has been recognized by the SEC," head coach Eve Rackham Watt said. "She had an outstanding last week of conference play and continued to establish herself as a go-to player for our team. Not only was Morgahn terrific as an attacker, but what she did as a blocker, defender and server was crucial in our team victories."
This marks the first conference award for Fingall in her Tennessee career and the fourth conference award for the Lady Vols this season.
