No. 9 UT Wins Six Races At UVA Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- No. 9 Tennessee won six of its 12 races at the UVA Invite this weekend, matching up against UCF, No. 10 Duke, and the host team, No. 3 Virginia.Â
The Lady Vols swept UCF in the Friday session, taking first in four races. UT's 1V8 posted a time of 6:43.5 to finish five seconds ahead of the Knights, and the 2V8 recorded Tennessee's most commanding win of the night, making it down the course nearly 14 seconds ahead of UCF with a time of 7:13.4. In the fours, the Lady Vols' 1V4 recorded a time of 8:02.0 to UCF's 8:09.0, and the 2V4 finished eight seconds ahead of the Knights with a time of 8:05.5.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Vols went head-to-head with No. 3 Virginia. The UT 2V8 scrapped out a first-place finish with a time of 6:52.2, finishing two seconds faster than the Cavaliers, and the 1V8 placed second with a time of 6:46.3 to Virginia's 6:41.8. In the 1V4, UT squared off with UVA's 1V4 and 3V4, finishing second with a time of 7:44.7. Virginia's 1V4 took first at 7:36.2, and their 3V4 placed third at 7:55.3. The Lady Vols' 2V4 came in third behind UVA's 2V4 and 4V4, making it down the course in 7:58.6. Virginia's 4V4 placed first with a time of 7:47.4, and its 2V4 was close behind at 7:48.1.
The Lady Vols closed out the regatta against No. 10 Duke, taking a win in the 1V8 race with a time of 6:45.4 to Duke's 6:52.5. The Tennessee 2V8 finished second, making it down the course five seconds behind the Blue Devils with a time of 6:58.0. UT's 1V4 and 2V4 also managed second-place finishes, recording times of 7:51.1 and 7:53.2, respectively, while Duke's boats posted nearly identical times of 7:46.5Â and 7:46.6.Â
