Vols Tied For Fourth After Two Rounds at Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – The Tennessee men's golf team is tied for fourth place through two rounds at the Tiger Invitational, as teams played an extra round than originally scheduled on Monday.
Due to weather expected to move into the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 15 teams in the field each played 36 holes on Monday. Competition started Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET and wrapped up around 8 p.m. ET. An effort will be made to play the final 18 holes at some point before Wednesday evening.
After shooting 2-under 286 as a team during the first round, the Vols improved on that in round two with an 8-under 280 mark as a team, which was the second-best team score in the field during the second round. No member of Tennessee's lineup shot over par during round two.
Hunter Wolcott led the way for the Vols on Monday, shooting 2-under during round one and 5-under during round two. At 7-under 137 overall, Wolcott is tied for fourth place entering the tournament's final round.
During his 5-under performance during the second round, Wolcott shot no worse than par on any hole and carded five birdies. Aside from Wolcott, only five other golfers in the 89-man field shot 67 or better during round two.
Spencer Cross also shot under par during both rounds on Monday, carding identical scores of 2-under 70 in rounds one and two. Cross is 4-under and tied for 12th place entering the final round.
Rhys Nevin was the third Vol to shoot par or better during both rounds on Monday, carding a 2-under in round one and shooting even par in round two. With 11 rounds of par or better during the 2020-21 season, Nevin now leads the team in that category. Nevin is 2-under overall and tied for 23rd place.
Competing as an individual, Brayden Garrison is on pace for his highest finish of the season after shooting 3-under for the day. Garrison is tied for 18th place entering round three. After shooting 1-over in round one, Garrison carded a 4-under during round two in which he shot five birdies.
Tied for 57th place, Jake Hall and Bryce Lewis each shot identical scores of 4-over on Monday and each contributed one counting round. After carding scores of 76 and 77 respectively in round one, Hall and Lewis rebounded in round two to both shoot par or better, carding rounds of 72 and 71.
