KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee will look to build on its season-opening sweep of UCF, competing in the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite (ORCI) on Saturday and Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn. This marks the ninth edition of ORCI, an annual regatta hosted by the University of Louisville. The Lady Vols were set to open the 2019-20 season at ORCI last March before the spring season was canceled due to the COVID-19 global health crisis.Â
UT, who is receiving votes in the CRCA Preseason Top 20, will join the host team Louisville and 10 other squads on Melton Hill Lake. In attendance will be No. 3 Michigan, No. 7 Virginia, No. 11 Indiana, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 16 Alabama, and No. 20 SMU, Minnesota, Tulsa, Notre Dame and Clemson.Â
Competition will open on Saturday with a morning session from 9 a.m.-noon ET, followed by an afternoon session from 3-6 p.m. ET. It will conclude on Sunday morning with a session from 9 a.m.-noon ET.Â
The Lady Vols will field five boats this weekend, racing three eights and two fours. In the first session, the Big Orange will match up against SMU and Notre Dame. Those races will begin with the 1V8s at 11:24 and end with the 2V4s at 11:56 a.m.
The Lady Vols will close out the second session of the day, going head-to-head with Clemson and Tulsa. The 1V8s will take the course at 5:24 p.m., and racing will conclude for the day with the 2V4s at 5:56 p.m.
On Sunday, UT will face off against Alabama and Indiana. The 1V8s will start down the course at 11:24, and the final race of the regatta will begin at 11:56 with the 2V4s.Â
