SARASOTA, Fla. – Three top-15 efforts and an impressive debut from freshman Kayla Holden leave the Lady Vols in 10th place after the opening round of the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate.

The Lady Vols took an early claim atop the leaderboard on Sunday, which can be built off of going into round two.

"It was great to get off to a strong start," head coach Judi Pavon said. "You have to make your birdies where you can because there are always tough stretches. So even though we didn't finish off the round as well as we started, we can learn from it and hopefully hold on longer tomorrow."

Junior Mikayla Bardwell had a steady performance in the opening round, carding a score of +1 (73), looking to build off of this effort going into round two on Monday.

Holden had a strong Lady Vol debut, knocking home six birdies. She equaled Bardwell's score of +1 (73) and sits in a tie for 15^th after day one.

Graduate student Micheala Williams-Luck was the third Lady Vol member of the nine-way tie for 15^th position following the first round at The Founders Club, also logging a score of +1 (73). Williams-Luck buried four birdies on the day.

Freshman Vanessa Gilly recorded Tennessee's final counting score of the day, finishing day one at +7 (79).

Waverly Whiston's score of +12 (84) rounded out the Lady Vol lineup, as she will look to bounce back in round two on Monday.
