Ava Bell Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Ava Bell has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Bell helped lead the Lady Vols to a 2-1 record during the week and featured prominently in the offensive attack.
The Austin, Texas, native had a strong performance as she put down 23 kills on 35 attacks and committed just one error. The senior hit .629 while averaging 2.30 kills per set. Bell totaled seven kills against Auburn, five kills in match one versus Texas A&M and followed up with 11 in the second match against the Aggies.
The middle blocker put up 10 blocks over 10 sets played this week, averaging 1.00 block per set. Bell tallied four blocks in the series opener with Texas A&M and closed out the second match against the Aggies with six blocks.
Bell averaged 2.85 points per set over the three matches for a total of 28.5 points.
This is the first-career SEC weekly honor for Bell.
Tennessee has now secured four weekly awards this season with Natalie Hayward twice winning setter of the week and Danielle Mahaffey earning defensive honors last week.
UT plays at South Carolina in a two-match series this weekend, Oct. 8-9.
