Rookie Runners Emerge in 22-3 Win at Georgia

Tee Martin threw touchdown passes to Cedrick Wilson and Peerless Price, sophomore tailback Travis Stephens rushed 20 times for 107 yards and the Vol defense continued its strong play by forcing four Georgia turnovers as the Big Orange dominated the proceedings on both sides of the line of scrimmage to take a 22-3 victory in the mid-October battle of SEC unbeatens.

The other Tennessee tailback named Travis, fellow sophomore Travis Henry, added 53 yards on 10 carries.

Martin's TD tosses each covered three yards and highlighted a 13-point third quarter that saw the Vols stretch a 9-3 halftime lead to the eventual 22-3 margin.

Jeff Hall kicked three field goals to give the Vols their first-half scores.

Deon Grant was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week following a performance that included six tackles, an interception, a recovered fumble and oen pass broken up. Derrick Edmonds, filling in for the injured Fred White, had eight tackles and an interception. Al Wilson had six tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack.

Tennessee is now 16-10-2 against Georgia, 8-5-1 at Athens.
Peerless Price's TD was his fifth of the season and 14^th of his career.
Tee Martin had a 30-yard run before his TD toss to Cedrick Wilson.
Jeff Hall became the ninth player in SEC history to pass 300 career points.
Travis Stephens' 107 yard rushing were a career high.
Corey Terry (-6) and Darwin Walker (-7) had sacks. Walker's led to an intentional grounding penalty.
Shaun Ellis (-5) had a lost yardage tackle as well as two tipped passes.
Dwayne Goodrich and Derrick Edmonds had interceptions.
The 9-3 halftime score was the same as the last Vol appearance in Sanford Stadium in 1996.
Tennessee's third field goal of the first half, 43 yards by Hall, came seven seconds before the half ended after the drive started at the UT 34 with 1:31 left.
