PREVIEW: Swim & Dive vs. Louisville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee swimming & diving will host Louisville on Thursday for its home opener, as the two teams face off at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center at 2 p.m.

The seventh-ranked Lady Vols will take on No. 13 Louisville, while the men's meet will feature the 17th-ranked Vols and the No. 7 Cardinals.

The "Olympic Tradition Meet" will honor all of UT's past and present Olympians throughout the course of the competition, including special recognitions of VFLs and members of the current squad. Starting at 4 p.m., LVFLs and Team USA members Erika Brown and Molly Hannis will be signing autographs for fans.
Â
Brown will also be honored with the raising of a banner for her top times in the country in the 100 and 200 freestyles during the 2019-20 campaign, since the NCAA Championships were canceled due to COVID-19. That ceremony will take place before she signs autographs.

Admission is free for all regular season meets, and the clear-bag policy will be in place for all fans. Though not required for entry to Jones Aquatic Center or movement throughout the seating area, facial coverings are encouraged.

SIX VOLS/LADY VOLS HAVE EARNED SEC WEEKLY HONORS THROUGH TWO WEEKS
- Through the first two weeks of the season, an impressive six Vols and Lady Vols have been recognized with the SEC weekly honors.
- After a strong start to the season, Summer Smith was tabbed SEC Female Freshman of the Week following a pair of wins against UNC Wilmington.
- This week, Tennessee had a staggering five athletes honored following UT's meet at NC State.
- Jarel Dillard won SEC Male Swimmer of the Week after sweeping the breaststroke events and was the Vols top points scorer against No. 4 NC State.
- Mona McSharry took home SEC Female Swimmer of the Week honors after winning both breaststroke events on the women's side.
- Bryden Hattie and Grace Cable were named the SEC Male and Female Divers of the Week after securing victories on both springboards for the second-straight meet.
- Julia Mrozinski was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week after winning the 200 freestyle and claiming two other podium finishes.
OLYMPIC TRADITION MEET VS. LOUISVILLE
- Tennessee will host Louisville on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET for the home opener of the 2021-22 season at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.Â
- The competition is being labeled as an Olympic Tradition Meet to honor all of UT swim & dive's Olympians, both past and present.
- Among the honorees will be Tennessee's five Olympians on the active roster (Lyubomir Epitropov, Michael Houlie, Mona McSharry, Tjasa Pintar and Ellen Walshe) as well as diving coach Dave Parrington.
- UT will also recognize VFLs Erika Brown, Tess Cieplucha and Molly Hannis during the meet.
- Brown will also be honored with a banner in the rafters for posting the top times in the 100 and 200 freestyles during 2020, before COVID ended the season.
TENNESSEE INVITATIONAL COMING UP!
- The Tennessee Invitational is just one month away, as the Vols and Lady Vols host one of the nation's top invites on Nov. 18-20.
- Among the teams slated to compete, four squads are ranked on both the men's and women's side. Among the women's teams, three are ranked inside the top eight nationally
- The teams coming to the invitational will be Alabama (#20 men/#14 women), Georgia (#8/#8), Virginia (#9/#1), South Carolina, UNLV and Carson-Newman.
