No. 20 Tennessee Rolls on as it Sweeps Texas A&M

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked Lady Vol volleyball team picked up their 10th sweep of the season Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena as they defeated Texas A&M in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-21).
Tennessee (12-2, 4-0 SEC) has now racked up three consecutive sweeps of SEC opponents after defeating Arkansas on Sept. 26 and Auburn on Sept. 29 in three sets. For Texas A&M (9-4, 2-1 SEC), Saturday is just the second time this season it has lost in three.
Since dropping the opening set to Arkansas on Sept. 25, the Lady Vols have won 12 straight sets. It ties for the longest set win streak for the Lady Vols this season.
Morgahn Fingall provided the offensive spark for UT Saturday night, putting away a team-high 11 kills. The Fairfax, Virginia, native served up four service aces in the win, tying her career-high. She also ended the night with three blocks.
Breana Runnels notched nine kills on the night, while Danielle Mahaffey put down six kills and a team-leading six total blocks. Ava Bell and Lily Felts each tallied five kills. Bell also put up four blocks with Felts getting three blocks and a pair of service aces.
Madison Bryant anchored the backline, netting a team-and-match-high 17 digs. Bryant also chipped in with five assists.
Setter Natalie Hayward totaled 28 assists, eight digs, two blocks and a kill in the victory over the Aggies.
Fingall came out strong in the first set as she led UT to a 25-19 win. The right-side hitter posted eight of her 11 kills in the opening frame, hitting .636 along the way. The Lady Vol block worked well in the first as they earned five blocks and held the Aggies to a .023 hit percentage.
It was more of the same in the second set as Tennessee won 25-20. The Big Orange managed six blocks in the second to go along with 11 total kills. Fingall earned two of her four aces in the second set.
Six service aces from the Lady Vols helped them to a 25-21 third set and match-clinching victory. Felts and Fingall both dropped in two aces, while JaKya Moore and Paola Laborda posted one apiece. Ava Bell led the Orange & White with four kills in the set.
