BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On Monday, the Southeastern Conference announced Natalie Hayward as its Player and Setter of the Week, following Tennessee's sweep of South Carolina.
It is the third time this season Hayward has been named setter of the week and the first time she has been named player of the week.
Hayward ran Tennessee's offense with high-efficiency against South Carolina as she totaled 78 assists over seven sets – averaging 11.14 assists per set. Hayward's setting was key to the Lady Vols hitting an impressive .329 as a team over the two matches.
In the series opening match, Hayward dished out 44 assists as UT hit .295. In match two, she picked up 34 assists with Tennessee hitting .376. The senior also put down nine kills this past weekend on a .467 hit percentage.
The Bothell, Washington, native finished the series with 12 digs and four total blocks.
Since she arrived on Rocky Top in 2020, Hayward has won setter of the week accolades on four occasions and has been named player of the week twice.
With Hayward's setter of the week honor, it is the first time since 2013 that the Lady Vols have had a player win an SEC weekly award three times in a season. That year, Ellen Mullins was named the defensive player of the week three times.
