January 05, 2021 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team and head coach Alison Ojeda announced the 2021 spring schedule on Tuesday.
Seventeen teams on the Lady Vols' spring slate were ranked inside the top 50 of last season's final ITA rankings with 10 of those squads ranking in the top 25.
"I want to thank Dr. (Chris) Klenck and our SEC medical task force for all the time that they have put in to find a safe way for our athletes to compete," Ojeda said. "Our team has had a fantastic preseason training and we are looking forward to competing next week at Duke."
The Lady Vols open the spring slate with three days of competition in Durham, North Carolina in the Duke Winter Classic. UT will square off with Duke, Old Dominion and NC State inside the Blue Devils' Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center beginning on Sunday, Jan. 10.
UT welcomes UT Martin to open dual match play with a doubleheader on Jan. 15 inside the Goodfriend Tennis Center. The Lady Vols then travel to Columbus, Ohio for the ITA Kickoff beginning Jan. 22.
Ojeda's squad opens SEC play on Feb. 21 with a trip to Athens to face Georgia. Conference competition comes to Knoxville on March 5 when UT hosts South Carolina. Senior day is scheduled for April 10 against Alabama, which marks Tennessee's final match before heading to Tuscaloosa for the SEC Championships.
All home matches played inside the Goodfriend Tennis Center will be conducted without fans per SEC COVID-19 protocols. Information regarding fans at outdoor matches played at Barksdale Stadium will be announced at a later date.
