Listen: “The Slice” Podcast Feat. DB Theo Jackson and Trevon Flowers, QB Jarrett Guarantano
September 26, 2020 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – "The Slice", Tennessee football's official podcast, returns with a special preseason episode that features defensive back duo Trevon Flowers and Theo Jackson in a shared interview, before redshirt senior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano makes his podcast debut in a one-on-one conversation.
"The Slice" is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (search The Slice). VFL Films' Kasey Funderburg conducts the in-depth interview, while VFL's Isaac Fowler produces the episode.
Jackson and Flowers discuss the personality of the Vols secondary before playing a humorous game of "This or That". Jackson, a senior, finished 2019 with 53 tackles, three deflected passes and an interception and will be looked to, to step into a leadership role for the 2020 season. Returning from a broken leg after appearing in six games last season, Flowers eagerly awaits his time to contribute once again on the field for the Orange & White.
"I felt like I came back stronger," Flowers said. "I've got more confidence out there now just being able to play faster."
While the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted much of 2020, Guarantano has found a silver lining in so much tumult and uncertainty. One thing that finally remained consistent for the Lodi, N.J., native, was the opportunity to play under the same offensive staff for consecutive years. Guarantano highlights the impact working in the same scheme for back-to-back seasons has had and what the extended time with his family during the spring helped reaffirm.
"Being able to have the same coach back-to-back years you kind of get comfortable…to be able to have those times at practice and realizing how much fun the game of football truly is makes it worthwhile," Guarantano shared.
