Lady Vols Land 24 on Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Twenty-four members of the Tennessee rowing team landed on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team, the conference announced Friday.

Nineteen Lady Vols were named to the first team while five earned second-team honors. Student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.20 or higher to qualify for the first team, while second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Junior Allie Asbury was Tennessee's top performer, joining just 20 other members of the Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team in recording a perfect 4.00 GPA.

"I am proud of the dedication this team has shown toward their academic success," head coach Lisa Glenn said. "Thanks to the great efforts of Denise Jilka and Colleen Starrs, our team has shown significant academic strength this year."

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
