Listen: "The Slice" Podcast Featuring Eric Gray
May 18, 2020 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore running back and 2020 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl MVP Eric Gray is this week's guest on "The Slice," Tennessee football's official podcast.
"The Slice" is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (search The Slice). VFL Films' Kasey Funderburg conducts the in-depth interview, while VFL's Isaac Fowler produces the episode.
Gray, a native of Memphis, surged late during his debut season, combining for 332 yards and four touchdowns in the final two games of the year. After a 246-yard outburst against Vanderbilt in the regular season finale, Gray captured MVP honors in the bowl game with the game-winning touchdown and a key on-side kick recovery.
"Once I held that (MVP) trophy up in the air, I was like 'this is college football'," Gray said. "From a kid dreaming about playing college football, I am really up here holding up the MVP trophy for the University of Tennessee. It was just an amazing feeling. I was so happy for us, happy for the seniors to go out with a W after all they had been through. Words could not describe what was going through my body then."
Fans can also listen to previous episodes of "The Slice," including guests Trey Smith, Henry To'o To'o, Alontae Taylor and Josh Palmer.
