Lady Vols Finish Seventh at Florida Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Tennessee women's golf team wrapped up its third spring tournament of the season today by finishing seventh overall with a team score of 904 (+64).
"Again today we had a decent round going, but lost some shots right at the end," head coach Judi Pavon said. "It was cool and windy again and we just made too many mistakes to be able to move up the leaderboard. The end of the season is closing in, so we need to just keep working to try to put everything together a month from now."
Freshman Nicole Whiston claimed her seventh top-25 finish this season by placing 23rd and carding a 224 (+14). In the third round, she recorded 75 (+5) strokes after hitting a 72 and 77 yesterday.
Next for the Lady Vols was senior Micheala Williams, who jumped up 11 spots to tie for 27th. In the third round, she carded a 73 (+3) to total 225 (+15). The performance was her best round of the tournament.
Sophomore Malia Stovall was right behind with a total of 226 (+16) strokes and tied for 30th. In the final round, Stovall shot a 77 (+7) and tallied one birdie on the day.
The next UT player was sophomore Hadley Walts, taking 56th in the field by totaling 234 (+24) after carding an 83 (+13) in the final round.
Rounding out the lineup for the Lady Vols was junior Waverly Whiston, who placed 60th and shot a 78 (+8) in the third round after tallying two birdies.
Individually, sophomore Mikayla Bardwell took 14th and totaled for 219 (+9). In the final round, she carded 72 (+2) strokes and two more birdies. She was the top finisher out the 12 individuals.
