Check out Tennessee baseball's new video series, Kickin' It with Kiv!
Vols assistant coach Ross Kivett sits down with former players and other current and former individuals associated with the Tennessee baseball program in this new weekly video series! The complete interviews will be posted on UTSports.com each week while select clips will be featured on UT basbeall's various social media accounts.Â
Check out Episode 1 below, featuring recent Vol baseball standout Garrett Crochet, who was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and was a rookie sensation for the Chicago White Sox this season.Â
On Sept. 18, 2020, Crochet became just the 22nd player to go directly from college to the major leagues since the first draft in June 1965. The Ocean Springs, Mississippi, native was also the first player to go from the draft to the bigs without playing in the minor leagues since Mike Leake did so with the Reds in 2010. Crochet made six appearances for Chicago during the 2020 season, including one postseason outing. In those six games, he did not allow a single run and gave up just three hits while racking up 10 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of relief.Â
