Swim & Dive Central: Double Dual vs. Alabama and Virginia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 7/14 Tennessee swimming and diving team is back in the water this weekend with a three-day double dual against No. 13/15 Alabama and No. 1/13 Virginia at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
The championship-style double dual runs Thursday through Saturday with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. ET and finals at 6 p.m. Diving preliminaries begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with finals beginning immediately following the conclusion of prelims. Platform diving will be contested Saturday at 2 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no spectators will be allowed into the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Live results will be available through the Meet Mobile app and on DiveMeets.com.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS
This weekend will provide a strong test for the Vols and Lady Vols as they compete against a pair of top 15 teams.
On the men's side, the Vols enter the double dual ranked 14th nationally, which falls just behind Virginia at No. 13 and ahead of Alabama at 15th.
For the women, they rank 7th in the nation and will be going against No. 1 Virginia and No. 13 Alabama.
UVA has competed in dual meets just once this season, defeating Navy in Annapolis on Oct. 31. The Virginia women defeated Navy 188-104, while the men's squad beat the Midshipmen 181-117.
Likewise, Alabama has competed just once in the fall, sweeping LSU on the road Nov. 6. The Alabama men took down the Tigers 194-104, with the women winning 183-117.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tennessee men have competed in one dual meet this season, taking down Kentucky in Lexington 194.5-105.5.
The Lady Vols have two meets under their belt and stand at 1-1 on the year. They fell on the road at Kentucky in a tightly contested dual meet, 152-148, before bouncing back the next day at home against Vanderbilt, winning 202-60.

The next competition on the schedule for Tennessee is Jan. 5-7 as the divers travel to Athens, Georgia for the Georgia Diving Invitational.
