Vols Tied for Sixth Entering Final Round at Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's golf team shot 8-under for the second consecutive day and sits in a tie for sixth place entering Tuesday's final round at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate.

Through two rounds, Tennessee is now a total of 16-under. Just five strokes separate the Vols from the top three on the leaderboard.

"Another solid day today on the course," head coach Brennan Webb said. "We didn't have much momentum early, but stayed with it and finished well heading into the final round."

As a team, Tennessee registered a strong finish to Monday's round. The Vols' five golfers recorded a combined seven birdies in the final two holes.

Junior Spencer Cross, who is tied for the team lead through two rounds, carded birdies on three of his final four holes. Entering Tuesday, Cross is tied for 20th place individually after shooting a round of 2-under 69 for the second straight day.

Cross is tied with redshirt freshman Bryce Lewis, who shot 3-under 68 on Monday. Lewis has shot par or better in every round of golf so far this fall, dating to the Blessings Collegiate Invitational earlier this month.

After carding a 3-over 74 during round one, senior Brayden Garrison rebounded during two to give the Vols their best score of the day. Garrison shot 4-under 67 on the day to bring his tournament total score to 1-under 141. The score marked the Nolensville, Tennessee, native's lowest round since 2017.

Garrison and fellow senior Rhys Nevin sit in a tie for 30th place entering the final round of competition. Nevin shot 4-over 75 during round two and is 1-under 141 overall.

Redshirt junior Hunter Wolcott gave the Vols their fourth counting score for the second consecutive day, shooting 1-over 72. Wolcott is tied for 45th place and 1-over 143 overall.
