No. 16 Tennessee Downs No. 25 Arizona State

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 16 Tennessee men's tennis team took care of business Saturday, beating No. 25 Arizona State 4-0 at the Goodfriend Tennis Center to open the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a victory.
With the win, UT moves on to the Knoxville regional championship match against No. 18 Columbia tomorrow at 1 p.m. The Lions defeated No. 14 Oklahoma State 4-0 in Saturday's early match.
The winner between Tennessee and Columbia will move on to the ITA Indoor National Championships which will be played next month, Feb. 13-16 in Madison, Wis.
Tennessee (6-0) has now beaten two ranked opponents this season and has five wins via the sweep, including four-straight.
As it has done all season, UT won the doubles point to begin the match 1-0. The Aussie duo of Scott Jones and Pat Harper defeated Tom LeBlanc and Makey Rakotomalala 6-3 on court two before Andrew Rogers and Giles Hussey took down Tim Ruehl and Andrea Bolla 6-2 on one, clinching the doubles point.
Mark Wallner and Adam Walton were tied 5-5 with Christian Lerby and George Stoupe on court three when the doubles point was clinched. Their match went unfinished.
In singles, the Vols took the first set on five of six courts and No. 23 Walton secured UT's second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over No. 99 Rakotomalala on court one.
Luca Wiedenmann was the second Vol off the court in singles as he defeated Lerby 6-2, 6-3 on court four, giving Tennessee a 3-0 lead over Arizona State.
On court six, Rogers clinched the victory for UT with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Stoupe.
Jones on court two went unfinished against Bolla with the score 6-3, 4-6, 3-2. Martim Prata did not finish his match versus Ruehl on three (6-4, 0-6, 5-3) and on court five Hussey also went unfinished against LeBlanc (6-0, 5-7, 5-4).

Tennessee will be back in action Sunday against No. 18 Columbia with a trip to the ITA Indoor National Championships on the line. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
