- UT is now 846-395-53 after appearing in its 53rd bowl game. The Vols rank sixth all-time in bowl appearances among NCAA Division I programs.
- Tennessee stands 29-24 in bowl games and is ranked sixth in wins. The Vols are 5-2 all-time in the Gator Bowl.
- Entering Thursday's matchup between Tennessee and Indiana, FBS teams were 0-471 this season when trailing by 13 or more points in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter. The Vols scored two touchdowns in a 30-second span to erase a 13-point deficit.
- Eric Gray's game-high 86 yards rushing along with a touchdown rush and 34 receiving yards earned him TaxSlayer Gator Bowl MVP honors. Gray also recovered an onside kick.
- Gray became the first Tennessee freshman to win a bowl game MVP award since Chuck Webb won MVP at the 1990 Cotton Bowl.
- Freshman receiver Ramel Keyton led the Vols with 60 yards receiving after the first quarter, surpassing his season-long total. He hauled in the longest reception of his career on a 46-yard catch over two defenders from Jarrett Guarantano.
- Freshman running back Eric Gray scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 16-yard scamper with 3:51 remaining in the fourth quarter. Gray finished the game with a game-high 86 yards on 14 carries.
- Redshirt junior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano finished the night 18-for-31 through the air with 221 passing yards. His 5,062 career passing yards rank eighth in program history.
- Senior wide receiver Marquez Callaway closed his collegiate career ranked 17th in all-time career receiving yards with 1,646.
- After a first-half suspension, redshirt senior wide receiver Jauan Jennings entered the game during Tennessee's opening drive of the third quarter. Jennings finished his time on Rocky Top ranked fifth all-time in career receptions (146), career touchdown receptions (18) and career receiving yards (2,153).Â
- After registering a game-high 1.5 sacks, redshirt senior linebacker Darrell Taylor finished with a single-season career-best 8.5 sacks, marking his second straight season recording at least 8.0 sacks.
- Junior defensive back Shawn Shamburger recorded the first interception of his career during the opening quarter and added his third sack of the season in the second quarter.
- Freshman linebacker Henry To'o To'o led the Vols with eight tackles. The 247Sports True Freshman All-American finished the season with 72 total tackles, second most on the team.
- Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Kurott Garland recorded a career-best five tackles on the night.
- With Tennessee trailing 22-16 with 4:21 remaining, Eric Gray recovered a well-executed onside kick by sophomore kicker Paxton Brooks to give the Vols the ball back and set up the go-ahead touchdown.
- Gray's recovery marks the first onside kick recovery by a Vols since Sept. 10, 2011.Â
- Junior kicker Brent Cimaglia drilled three field goals in the win to finish the season with 23 made field goals on 27 attempts (.852).
- His 23 field goals rank as the third-most in a season in program history and are the most in 34 years. Only Fuad Reveiz (27; 1982) and Carlos Reveiz (24; 1985) made more field goals in a season for the Vols.
- Cimaglia will enter the 2020 season as the second-most accurate kicker in Tennessee history, having made 41 of 53 career attempts (.774).
- Cimaglia's three made field goals are the most-ever by a Vol in a bowl (53 games).
