Alozie Signs Contract With BIIK Kazygurt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Following one season as a graduate transfer for the Tennessee women's soccer program, forward Michelle Alozie has signed a professional contract with 13-time Kazakhstani national champion BIIK Kazygurt.

Based in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, BIIK Kazygurt competes in the Kazakhstani Championship and UEFA Women's Champions League. The club has won its national league title seven years running and most recently reached the Round of 16 in the 2019-20 edition of the Champions League.

In her lone season on Rocky Top, Alozie was second on the team with three goals in 17 appearances for the Big Orange. The Apple Valley, California, native tallied scores against No. 6 Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana and former Ivy League rival Columbia.

Prior to Tennessee, Alozie was a three-year standout on the women's soccer team at Yale University. She earned Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors and was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection her junior season, posting career-best season totals with nine goals, five assists and 23 points for the Bulldogs. Alozie went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Yale in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and aspires to be a cardiologist following her soccer career.

Alozie is one of seven active Tennessee soccer alumnae in the professional ranks overseas, alongside Carlyn Baldwin (midfielder, Sporting CP), Maya Neal (defender, Le Havre AC), Bunny Shaw (forward, Bordeaux), MA Vignola (forward/defender, Thróttur FC), Hannah Wilkinson (forward, Sporting CP) and Shae Yanez (goalkeeper, Santa Teresa CD).
