Hansen and Grubbs Garner SEC Weekly Honors

Sedona Hansen Named SEC Player of the Week for the first time in her career while Tessa Grubbs named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Two Tennessee volleyball players garnered SEC weekly honors, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
After being named the MVP of the Tennessee Classic, senior Sedona Hansen was named the SEC Player of the Week while also being named SEC Setter of the Week. Fellow senior Tessa Grubbs took home Offensive Player of the Week honors, an award she earned twice last season.
Hansen played out of the 5-1 in all three matches as the team nearly averaged a .400 hitting percentage, finishing with a .399 hitting percentage on the weekend.
She tallied her fourth double double of the season with 35 assists and 10 digs in the win over Georgia Southern on Saturday. Hansen now has 51 double doubles in her career, the third highest mark in program history.
In the finale of the tournament, Hansen helped lead the Lady Vols to their 11th highest hitting percentage in the rally-scoring era as Tennessee hit .427 in the victory over North Dakota State.
She finished the week with 11.57 assists per set, which is the highest weekly average by a Tennessee setter in the Eve Rackham era. The Wrightwood, California native enters SEC play needing just 32 digs to become the fourth player in program history to tally 2,500-plus assists and 1,000-plus digs in their career.
Grubbs, a Tega Cay, South Carolina native, posted 5.00 kills per set this week with 12 or more kills in all straight-set victories. In the Tennessee Classic finale against North Dakota State, she recorded a career-high .600 hitting percentage, posting a match-high 16 kills in the win.
In the Tennessee Classic opener against ETSU, she tied the for the fifth most kills in the three-set match during the 25-point rally scoring era with 17 against ETSU. It is also tied for the fourth most of any SEC player in a three-set match this season.
Over the weekend, Grubbs moved into the top 15 in program history in kills, passing both Erica Treiber (2015-18) and Sara Blum (2003-06). She enters SEC play with 1,139 career kills and need 204 more kills this season to crack the top 10 in Tennessee history.
