KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team while three Lady Vols were named Scholar-Athletes, the ITA announced Thursday.
Rising senior Ariadna Riley, rising junior Tenika McGiffin and rising sophomore Kylie Duckworth earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, which is given to student-athletes that posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while earning a varsity letter.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is awarded to any program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (fall 2018 and spring 2019).
On the court this past spring, Riley, McGiffin and Duckworth each contributed to a stellar season for the Lady Vols.
Tennessee continued to make immense strides on the court, recording the best regular-season win total since the 2003 season and making the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.
The Lady Vols claimed their best SEC finish since 2013 and had nine conference victories—their most since 2011. At home, Tennessee posted a 14-3 record, marking the most home wins for the program in a single season since 1992. The Lady Vols also set a program record for shutouts with 11.
