KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee men's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team while three Volunteers were named Scholar-Athletes, the ITA announced Thursday.
Rising senior Luca Wiedenmann, rising Junior Andrew Rogers and rising sophomore Martim Prata earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, which is given to student-athletes who posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while earning a varsity letter.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is awarded to any program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (fall 2018 and spring 2019).
On the court this past spring, Rogers, Wiedenmann and Prata each contributed to a stellar season for the Vols.
Tennessee secured back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time since 2010 and 2011 while reaching the SEC Championship final for the first time since 2013. The team hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, defeating Radford and NC State to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time since 2014.
