Rackham Announces Addition of Jennifer Charles to Staff

Charles previous coached with Rackham at North Carolina for two seasons including a school-record 29 wins in 2014
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee volleyball head coach Eve Rackham announced the addition of Jennifer Charles to the staff on Wednesday.
Charles will join the staff as a volunteer assistant coach after serving as an assistant coach at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She worked primarily with blocking, middle and right side attacking as well as serving as recruiting coordinator during her two seasons at Charlotte.
Prior to her time with the 49ers staff, Charles was the head coach at University of Mount Olive, a Division II program in North Carolina.
Rackham and Charles previously worked together at University of North Carolina. During Charles two seasons as a volunteer assistant in Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels posted a combined 54-10 record, advancing to the 2014 NCAA Division I Elite Eight in her second season. They also set school records with a 29-3 record and a No. 7 ranking in the AVCA National Coaches Poll.
She also served in the assistant role at North Carolina Central University, Kennesaw State University and UAB. In addition to Division I coaching experience, Charles was an assistant coach at Midland College and has five years of experience of coaching club volleyball.
Charles, a 2007 graduate of Georgia Southern University, was a four-year letter winner for the Eagles. She finished her collegiate career as the top blocker in program history with 462 total blocks, was a team captain and a member of a Southern Conference championship team in 2003.
Charles, a two-sport athlete in college, competed as a thrower for the Georgia Southern track and field team for two seasons. She was part of Southern Conference championship track and field team and was the league's individual shot put champion. Charles earned all-conference accolades in track and field and was a regional qualifier in the shot put.
