May 30, 2019 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its All-America honors on Thursday with Tennessee senior Timo Stodder earning All-America accolades in singles for the second time in his career.
Stodder had already earned All-America in doubles this season with his partner Preston Touliatos.
"I am very proud of Timo for the hard work, dedication and drive he showed this season," head coach Chris Woodruff said. "Achieving this honor for a second consecutive season is no easy feat but he fought throughout the season, never wavered and reached his goals. We're all proud and excited for him."
The singles honor is the third All-America accolade Stodder has earned during his career, making him just the eighth player in program history to be a three-time All-American. The Berlin, Germany native earned singles All-America status for the first time in 2018.
Stodder finished the season 25-11 overall, 16-8 in dual matches and 9-3 in SEC play. He collected All-SEC First Team honors for the third time in his career and took home the ITA Ohio Valley Senior Player of the Year Award.
In the NCAA Tournament, he became the first Vol since Rhyne Williams in 2010 and 2011 to make back-to-back appearances in the round of 16. He concludes his career on Rocky Top with 97 wins, tying him with Earl Grainger for the 11th most victories all-time in program history.
