Loran Grant, a kinesiology major from Honolulu, Hawaii, is a four-year member of Tennessee Rowing. As a freshman, Grant rowed third seat in the 1V4+ that finished fifth in the Grand Finals of the Big 12 Championship. She also rowed in the 1V4+ as a junior, taking fourth place at the Big 12 Championship. Earlier this year she was part of the Women's Club Eight that represented Tennessee at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass.
Grant has also amassed a number of honors off the water during her time at UT. A four-year member of the Dean's List and SEC Academic Honor Roll, she is a 2019 recipient of the Extraordinary Academic Achievement Citation. Additionally, she is a member of two honor societies - Phi Sigma Theta and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Reflecting on her four-year career, Grant names the 2019 Head of the Charles Regatta as her favorite memory.
"My favorite rowing memory would be the Head of the Charles Regatta this past year," said Grant. "It is the largest two-day regatta in the world and the energy during the races was incredible."
Grant is on track to graduate in May, after which she plans to enlist in the United States Navy to be a hospital corpsman.
"Graduating as a Lady Volunteer is an honor and a privilege that I am so thankful for. The relationships and memories I have made here on and off the water will forever be in my heart. I am thankful for all of the opportunities that have been available to me as a Lady Vol, and I am leaving here confident that I gave my all for Tennessee," said Grant.
I would love to have dinner with my great grandfather Otto, C.S. Lewis, and Jesus.
