SDCC Day One: All Boats Advance to Second Finals

San Diego, Cali. -- Tennessee was in action at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday, advancing all three boats to the second finals on Sunday.
UT's 1V8 finished fourth in Heat 2 of the Women's Collegiate Varsity Jessop-Whittier Cup, besting Gonzaga and SDSU with a time of 6:45.386. Top-ranked Washington posted a time of 6:24.206 to win the heat, followed by No. 3 Stanford (6:25.930) and UCLA (6:35.596).
In the Women's Collegiate 2V Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy, Tennessee outpaced Sacramento State, Drexel and Saint Mary's to take third in the heat with a time of 7:02.303. Washington finished first with a time of 6:45.479, followed by UCLA with a time of 6:58.467.
The Lady Vols also took third in their heat of the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup, besting SDSU, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara (DNS) with a time of 7:56.870. Stanford posted a time of 7:33.398 to win the heat, and Texas took second at 7:38.314.
Tennessee's 1V4 will be the first to hit the water on Sunday, facing off against Gonzaga, Washington State, SDSU, San Diego and Loyola Marymount at 11:24 a.m. ET (8:24 a.m. PT) in the Womens Collegiate Varsity 4+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup Final 2. The 2V8 will hit the water at 12:36 p.m. ET (9:36 a.m. PT), matching up against Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma, Gonzaga, Sacramento State, and SDSU in the Womens Collegiate 2V Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy Final 2, and the 1V8 will be in action at 1:24 p.m. ET (10:24 a.m. PT) against Stanford, Gonzaga, Oklahoma, and SDSU in the Womens Collegiate Varsity Jessop-Whittier Cup Invitational Final 2.
UT's 2V4 will also compete on Sunday in the Women's Collegiate 4+ B, a finals-only event, at 2:48 p.m. ET (11:48 a.m. PT) against Washington State, UCLA, Oklahoma, SDSU, San Diego and UC Santa Barbara.
