KNOXVILLE, TENN. -- Tennessee will be in action on Mission Bay in California on Saturday and Sunday, competing in four events at the 2019 San Diego Crew Classic.
The Lady Vols' first race of the day will be in Heat 2 of the Women's Collegiate Varsity Jessop-Whittier Cup where the 1V8 will face off against Washington, Stanford, UCLA, Gonzaga, and SDSU at 12:12 p.m. ET (9:12 a.m. PT).
Tennessee's 2V8 will hit the water in Heat 2 of the Women's Collegiate 2V Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy at 12:52 p.m. ET (9:52 a.m. PT), matching up against Washington, UCLA, Sacramento State, Drexel and Saint Mary's (CA).
UT's final race on Saturday will be in Heat 3 of the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup at 1:24 p.m. ET (10:24 a.m. PT) against Stanford, Texas, SDSU, Saint Mary's (CA) and Santa Clara.
Competition will continue on Sunday with the Petite and Grand Finals for each of the three races. Additionally, UT's 2V4 will compete in the Women's Collegiate 4+ B, a finals-only event, at 2:48 p.m. ET (11:48 a.m. PT) against Washington State, UCLA, Oklahoma, SDSU, San Diego and UC Santa Barbara.
This marks the 10th time overall and the fifth consecutive season Tennessee has competed in the San Diego Crew Classic. Last year the Vols' 1V8+ took third in the Petite Finals of the Collegiate Varsity Jessop-Whittier Cup, and the 2V8+ placed third in the Women's Collegiate 2V Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy Petite Finals. The Vols' 1V4+ took first in the Petite Final of the Women's Collegiate Varsity 4+ Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup while the 3V8 finished third out of seven teams in the finals-only Women's Open Carley Copley Cup.
