KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Senior rower Kristen Freeman, a Knoxville native, is set to graduate with a degree in Kinesiology. A four-year member of Tennessee Rowing, Freeman's career is highlighted by a second-place finish in the Women's Club Four at the 2018 Head of the Charles Regatta.
"The rowing accomplishment I am most proud of is placing second out 54 boats at the Head of the Charles (Regatta) in Boston this year," said Freeman. "I was able to race with some of my best friends which made the experience mean so much more to me. I am glad I got to finish my senior year fall racing off with an unforgettable race."
Last season Freeman stroked the 1V4 to a fourth-place finish in the grand finals of the Big 12 Championship with a time of 7:39.652, and earlier this year she was part of the 1V8 crew that finished fourth at the San Diego Crew Classic.
Freeman has also excelled in the classroom, earning Big 12 Academic-All Conference First Team and Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, she's a four-year member of the Dean's List and was awarded the 2019 Extraordinary Academic Achievement Citation.
With an ultimate career goal of being a physician's assistant, Freeman plans to take a gap-year before enrolling in P.A. school. During that time she'll work as a medical scribe to earn direct patient care hours.
