TRACK & FIELD CENTRAL: Penn Relays/Tom Jones Memorial

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- For the second week in a row, the Tennessee track & field program is set to compete at two separate meets. A collection of UT sprinters, jumpers and pole vaulters will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the Tom Jones Memorial Invite, while a small group of men's distance runners will head to Philadelphia for the 125th running of the historic Penn Relays. Both meets are scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday, April 26-27 at Percy Beard Track (Gainesville) and Franklin Field (Philadelphia).

PENN RELAYS: Competing at the Penn Relays for the first time since 2016, Tennessee will open the meet Friday at approximately 2:35 p.m. as Nick Boogades, Darryl Harris, Joe Hoots and Alex Crigger run the College Men's Distance Medley Relay (1200-400-800-1600). Senior Zach Long is set to run the men's Olympic development mile Saturday at 3:55 p.m., aiming to become the first Vol to ever crack the sub-four minute barrier.

The longest running track and field event in the history of the sport, the Penn Relays regularly draw more than 110,000 fans across three days of competition. More athletes have run at the Penn Relays than at any single meet in the world, while more spectators have watched the meet than any in the world expect the Olympics and World Championships.

TOM JONES MEMORIAL: Tennessee will send 12 sprinters, four jumpers and five pole vaulters for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational this weekend, hosted by the University of Florida. UT will open the meet with the men's pole vault Friday at 3 p.m., while action concludes for the Vols with the men's 100m dash Saturday at approximately 3:55 p.m.

Live results for the entire meet will be provided via Half-Mile Timing, while Saturday's action will feature an online broadcast through SEC Network+. The stream will begin promptly at 1 p.m. and can be accessed at this link or the WatchESPN app.

HOW THE VOLS STACK UP:Â With the NCAA outdoor track & field postseason about a month away, 30 Tennessee athletes currently rank inside the top-48 of 28 events on the DI East Region qualifying list. Those within the top-48 of their respective event following the SEC Championships will qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds in Jacksonville, Fla. (May 23-25).
UP NEXT: Tennessee track & field will conclude its regular season with a one-day home meet on Saturday, May 4. The Tennessee Challenge is set to run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Tom Black Track at Laporte Stadium.
