Tennessee tee off postseason play at the SEC Championships in St Simons Island, Ga.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee men's golf team begins postseason play in St. Simons Island, Ga. at the SEC Championships.
The Vols take aim at their fourth SEC Championship title in program history at Sea Island Golf Club with their last coming in 2007. This marks the 19th year for the SEC Championship to be contested on the Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course. The SEC has conducted its annual championship on St. Simons Island since 2001.
The Seaside Course is also home to the PGA Tour's RSM Classic.
The field features 14 teams with the Vols entering as one of 10 teams ranked in the top 50 of the latest Golfstat rankings. Joining them in their first round pairing is No. 26 Texas A&M and No. 37 Arkansas.
Tennessee, who has won a program-tying three tournaments so far this season, is one of three teams in the field to have three team titles this season. The last UT team title came at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra, Fla., which is less than 100 miles south of St. Simons Island, Ga.
Redshirt sophomore Hunter Wolcott comes into the tournament as the No. 88 ranked player in the latest Golfstat rankings. Wolcott leads the Vols with a 72.26 stroke average and has five top-25 finishes including the last three events, entering postseason play.
Wolcott has been Tennessee's top finisher in three of the five events this spring including the final regular season event of the season, the Shoal Creek Invitational. He tied for 14th in the tournament, capping off the final round with a 100-yard chip in for birdie.
Redshirt junior Nolan Ray, who ranks second on the team with a 72.90 stroke average, rejoins the lineup after missing the event at Shoal Creek. This spring he has a 72.40 stroke average with four top-25 finishes.
Tomorrow's first round is scheduled to start at 9:10 a.m. (ET) as Tennessee tees off No. 1. The Vols will be paired with Texas A&M and Arkansas on the opening day of play.

Brayden Garrison
In nine starts this season, Garrison has placed inside of the top 25 six times including three top-25 finishes this spring. He comes into the SEC Championships ranked second on the team with 13 rounds of par or better.
Hunter Wolcott
The Burns, Tenn., has five top-20 finishes in his last six starts including his first collegiate win at The Hayt. The redshirt sophomore has a team-best 72.00 stroke average this spring. He also leads the team with 16 rounds of par or better this season and in round counted with 94.44 percent of his rounds counting.
Tyler Johnson
Johnson has three top-25 finishes in his last five events this season. He is coming into the final regular season tournament ranked third on the team with 10 rounds of par or better and is one of five Tennessee golfers to have a scoring average of 73.00 or lower.
Rhys Nevin
The junior will look for his first top-25 finish of the spring after finishing tied for 31st at the Shoal Creek Invitational. Nevin leads the team with four rounds in the 60s while ranking third in rounds of par or better with 10 this season.
Nolan Ray
The redshirt junior comes into the postseason coming off his highest finish as a collegiate, tying for third at the Mason Rudolph Championship last week. Ray has four top-25 finishes in five events this spring including back-to-back coming into the SEC Championships.
