Tennessee Nominees for McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarships Announced

Erica Treiber and Zhipeng (Colin) Zeng selected as Vol nominees for the award
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Zhipeng (Colin) Zeng of the swimming and diving team and Erica Treiber of the volleyball team have been nominated for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship.
The H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship has been presented by the Southeastern Conference since 1986 to the league's top male and female scholar-athletes.
The SECÂ will name the 2019 recipients of the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship on April 25.
Highlights of Tennessee's nominees include:
ZHIPENG (COLIN) ZENG, Swimming & Diving
Major: Psychology
- Three-time NCAA Champion, 2016, 2018, 2019
- Won two NCAA titles on Platform, 2016, 2018
- NCAA Champion in the 1-Meter Springboard, 2019
- Two-time SEC Champion and has earned four total SEC Championship medals
- Platform and 3-meter SEC Champion, 2019
- Has two gold medals, a silver and bronze medal from his two SEC Championships
- First Vol - male or female - to surpass 500 points in a six-dive list when he posted a score of 507.15 in the platform finals at the 2018 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships
- Six-time All-American at Tennessee
- Won back-to-back NCAA and SEC Diver of the Year honors
- All-SEC, 2018, 2019
- SEC Academic Honor Roll, 2017, 2018
- Member of SAAC, 2018-2019
- Visited and played games with children at the East Tennessee Children's Hospital
- Worked with Pedal for Alzheimer's, helping to distribute food and water for bikers
- Assisted with Voloween, the annual trick or treat put on by Tennessee's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

- Finished her career second in program history in hitting percentage (.358), third in blocks per set (1.15), fourth in total blocks (507) and 16th in kills (1,097)
- One of two players in the nation in 2018 to rank in the top five in their conference in hitting percentage, blocks per set and aces per set.
- Finished the season third in the SEC in hitting percentage (.392) while ranking fifth in both blocks per set (1.10 blk/set) and aces per set (0.37 aces/set)
Each year, the SEC, in conjunction with AT&T, an SEC official sponsor, provides the league's male and female McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Scholarship recipients with a $20,000 post-graduate scholarship. The 26 remaining male and female finalists for the award will also receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship.
The award recipients are chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from the 14 SEC institutions and are honored at the SEC Spring Meetings in Sandestin, Fla., in late May.
Last year's McWhorter Award recipients were University of Tennessee football player Parker Henry and LSU volleyball player Kelly Quinn.
