Vols Five Strokes Off Lead Enter Final Round of The Hayt

Tennessee cards field-low 4-under second round to trim 12 stokes off of leaders Louisville
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – University of Tennessee men's golf team will enter the final round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational just five shots off the lead and in seventh.
The Vols charged up the leaderboard in the second round of the tournament recording a field-best 4-under-par round. The round helped them move up four spots in the second round and trimmed 12 stokes off the lead.
Tennessee's second round have them as the top SEC team on the leaderboard ahead of No. 9 Auburn and No. 21 Alabama. UT also overtook No. 37 TCU and one stoke off No. 19 Clemson and No. 30 NC State entering Monday's final round.
On the back nine of the second round, the Vols were 9-under-par, totaling 15 birdies as a team including six from junior Brayden Garrison. The Nolensville, Tenn. native was carded a 70 (-2) in the second round thanks to a 5-under back nine. It helped him jump into a tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard.
Garrison, who has five top-25 finishes in six starts this season, will be looking for his second top-10 finish of the season tomorrow.
Fellow junior Hunter Wolcott enters the final round tied for fourth and just two strokes off the individual lead. Wolcott was 4-under-par in his second round, the low round on the course to move up 13 spots on the leaderboard.
Over the final 11 holes of his round, he was bogey free with five birdies including a birdie-birdie-birdie stretch from hole No. 15 to No. 17.
Redshirt sophomore Tyler Johnson, who carded a second round 70 (-2), also charged up the leaderboard with a 4-under and bogey-free back nine. Johnson's round moved him up 22 spots on the leaderboard as he currently sits tied for 31st.
Tennessee will tee off the final round tomorrow at 7:40 a.m. ET. The Vols will be paired with Alabama (+13) and Jacksonville (+13) who are tied for eighth.
