Garrison Leads Vols in Day One of Linger Longer Invitational

Junior Brayden Garrison is tied for 25th after 18 holes of play in Greensboro, Ga.

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Junior Brayden Garrison led the No. 22 University of Tennessee men's golf team in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational.

Through 18 holes of play, Garrison is tied for 25 shooting even par. Over the final 12 holes, the Nolensville, Tenn. native was 3-under-par including 2-under par in the final nine holes.

Garrison was on the three Vol players to finish off Friday with a birdie on the final hole. The par-4 443-yard No. 9 saw birdies from junior Rhys Nevin, junior Hunter Wolcott and Garrison. All three players, who were the low three scores for UT in round one, finished under par over the final nine holes.

Wolcott joined Garrison shooting a 34 (-2) on the back nine with three of his four birdies today coming in the final five holes. The Burns, Tenn. native had back-to-back on the par-4 fifth and the par-5 sixth while finishing the day with another on No. 9.

Nevin, who was 1-under-par in the final nine holes, is just one stroke back of Garrison on the individual leaderboard after turning in an opening round 73 (+1). Like Wolcott, the Cheshire, England native found a birdies on the par-4 fifth before birding the last hole of the round.

Nevin enters Saturday tied for 32nd on the individual leaderboard.

Tennessee will tee off the second round tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. ET. The Vols will be paired with Virginia (+10) and Toledo (+11).
