TRACK & FIELD CENTRAL: SEC Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Tennessee track & field program begins postseason action this week as the Vols and Lady Vols compete at the 2019 SEC Indoor Championships. The meet is scheduled to run all day Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23 at the University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center.

Sophomore Kiara Rhodes will open up for Tennessee Friday morning, representing the Big Orange in the women's pentathlon at 11 a.m. CT. The conference championships will conclude Saturday evening with the men's 4x400m relay, scheduled to begin at 5:50 p.m. The full schedule of events can be found at this link.

BROADCAST INFO: A live stream of the meet will be available both days online via SEC Network+, beginning at 4:30 p.m. ET Friday and 3:55 p.m. ET Saturday. Dwight Stones and Jill Montgomery are set to describe the action from the booth, while John Anderson will report live from the track. Additionally, a tape-delayed broadcast of the Championship will air on the SEC Network Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

TOP MARKS: 12 Tennessee athletes combined for 16 top-8 marks in the SEC this season heading into the conference meet.

Women:
HOW THE VOLS STACK UP: The Tennessee women were ranked No. 24, while the men were tabbed No. 33 in the latest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI). When the rankings are condensed to SEC squads, UT sits No. 8 and No. 9 among conference schools on the women's and men's sides, respectively.

FLASHBACK TO 2018: A pair of Tennessee seniors picked up medals last year at SEC Indoors, as Mustaqeem Williams claimed the 200m title and Stamatia Scarvelis earned bronze in the weight throw. Williams clocked in at a personal-best 20.55 that ranks fifth in UT history, while Scarvelis tabbed a mark of 21.20m (69-6.75) on her first attempt to finish third in the league.

UT's men's squad placed seventh at the meet with 44 points. On the women's side, the Lady Vols were 11th with 21 points.

UP NEXT: Tennessee athletes that post top-16 NCAA qualifying marks will earn a spot at the 2019 NCAA Indoor National Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The nation's top athletes will converge on the Birmingham CrossPlex Friday and Saturday, March 8-9.
