Shrout made his first career start, becoming the fourth different Vol to start as the playcaller this season, joining redshirt senior receiver Jauan Jennings (opened in Wildcat), freshman Brian Maurer (three starts) and redshirt junior Jarrett Guarantano (four starts). It marks the first time in more than 30 years that UT has had four different players start at QB in one season.

Â- Thompson recorded his second INT of the night in the second quarter, notching the first multi-interception game of his career.
 - Thompson's third interception of the game also came in the second quarter. With the pick, he became the first Vol since Deon Grant to record three INTs in a game when Grant did so against Auburn in 1999. Like Thompson, all three of Grant's interceptions came in the first half.
