- UT is now 840-395-53. The Vols rank 10th all-time in wins among NCAA Division I programs.
- Tennessee's captains for Saturday's game against Alabama were seniors Daniel Bituli, Brandon Kennedy, Darrell Taylor and Dominick Wood-Anderson.
- Alabama won the toss and deferred to the second half, defending the North endzone.
- Quavaris Crouch became the sixth true freshman to start this season Saturday night at Alabama.
- Brian Maurer's 2-yard quarterback sneak touchdown evened the score to 7-7 at 4:21 in the first quarter and was the first touchdown by a Tennessee quarterback against Alabama since Casey Clausen's game-winning 1-yard touchdown in the fifth overtime of Tennessee's 51-43 win over the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa in 2003.Â
- Maurer left the game with an injury with just over one-minute remaining in the first quarter. The true freshman from Ocala, Fla., finished 5-of-7 for 62 yards with one interception in his first-career road start.
- With his first catch of the game, senior wide receiver Jauan Jennings moved into a tie for 10th on Tennessee's all-time reception list with 117 catches. Jennings ended the game with six catches for 66 yards to move him into sole possession of 10th on Tennessee's all-time reception list with 122 and 16th in all-time receiving yards with 1,662.
- In the first quarter, Tim Jordan had a career-long 33 yard-run to set up a 37-yard field goal. He ended the game with a season-high 94 rushing yards, the second highest total of his career.
- Ty Chandler recorded his fourth run of 20 yards or more with a 33-yard rush in the third quarter.
- The Vols held Alabama's high-powered offense to season lows in points (35), passing yards (233) and total yards (373).
- Tennessee senior defensive back Nigel Warrior intercepted Tua Tagovailoa in the first quarter, stopping Alabama's drive in the red zone, and returned it 59 yards to set up Tennessee's only touchdown on the night.
- Tagovailoa has been picked off 10 times in his career with Tennessee snagging two of them. Daniel Bituli intercepted the Alabama quarterback in 2017, returning it 97 yards for a touchdown.
- Tennessee has recorded an interception against Alabama in five-straight games.
- Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Greg Emerson sacked Tagovailoa in the second quarter for his second-career sack.
- Emerson tallied six tackles, including a TFL on Saturday night. The six stops are a new career high for the Jackson, Tenn., native.
- Freshman defensive back Jaylen McCollough sacked Alabama's Mac Jones in the second quarter, stopping the Crimson Tide drive and forcing Alabama to punt. It was the true freshman's his first-career sack.
- Redshirt sophomore Kivon Bennett posted five tackles to set a new career high.
- Junior defensive lineman Matthew Butler tied his career high in tackles with five while also recording half a tackle-for-loss.
- Junior kicker Brent Cimaglia drilled both of his field goal attempts to improve to 13-of-14 on the season for an SEC-best 92.9 percent. He has made all 16 of his extra points this season, as well. For his career he has made 31-of-40 field goal attempts and his 77.5 percentage is second-best in Tennessee history behind Alex Walls (53-of-68, 77.9 percent).
